The excursion to Segovia, a designated World Heritage city, was beautiful. Segovia is almost 2 hours from Salamanca. Home to 3 beautiful monuments: one of the best preserved Roman aqueducts in Europe, the 12th century Alcazar castle (one of the favorite residences in Northern Spain of Queen Isabel the Catholic), and the 15th century gothic cathedral with majestic proportions. The weather allowed for a walk in the old town while visiting interesting shops and buildings. Free time for picnic on the castle grounds was memorable. The day flew fast under perfect weather.
On the way home we stopped for a photo opportunity in Avila surrounded by the beautifully preserved medieval walls and home of Saint Teresa. The last time we got a view of this amazing city was during our approach to Madrid airport from some 5000 feet in the air (almost a week ago already!). All is good. Students are making more friends everyday and practicing Spanish full time!
