We woke up this morning happy to be in Madrid. Everyone gathered for a wonderful breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is centrally located which gave us a head start on the day, especially because newscasters gave everybody a warning to expect our warmest weather during our final full day in Spain. After breakfast we walked leisurely through the Retiro Parc, once the kings hunting grounds, now a wonderful oasis of nature in the center of the city. Once arriving at El Prado museum students took refuge from the heat and spent time appreciating the permanent and visiting exhibits at their own pace. But alas we needed to make our way for shopping time and souvenirs. Thankfully each boutique and shopping store is very well ventilated to escape what had turned into triple digit temperatures by 1pm.
In the early evening students returned from their shopping adventure to take their final siesta of the month. After ample rest mixed with Olympics updates and games of charades we made our way to Plaza Mayor for our farewell dinner. Course after course of wonderful food appeared on our plates and everyone left satisfied. We are all now packing and ready for one last night of this month long trip. A trip full of timeless memories.
