As you know, travel and study abroad programs are a wonderful way for students to experience a different culture and put to practical use the language skills they have learned in your classrooms all year long. Magellan Study Abroad provides programs for educators like you to continue working with students in an international setting, during a summer program. You can sign on to be a teacher chaperone on one of our programs.

Our teachers come to us from schools throughout the country, and many who sign on with us have experienced first-hand the limitations and frustrations resulting from inferior teen tours they have lead over the years. With Magellan Study Abroad, they have found a new home, where quality immersion and educational programs are offered at an affordable price. The Magellan Study Abroad difference is even more apparent after our teachers return from a summer abroad with us, excitedly preparing to return next summer to yet again impart their knowledge and expertise to another group of eager participants. This is the new generation of teacher partners with whom Magellan Study Abroad is proud to be associated.

You can be a teacher participant on a Magellan Study Abroad summer travel, community service, or study abroad program.

Partake as a teacher chaperone of a group of energetic students as they absorb the sights and sounds of an international destination and participate in language studies and/or do community service. While you would not be teaching in the traditional classroom setting, motivated teachers are needed to accompany, guide and mentor students during their travels abroad. Participants must possess the energy, patience, and willingness to work with teens, have the ability to lead, counsel and set limits when necessary, and be trusted with the safety and well-being of all of our students. Strong language skills are a must and travel experience in the target country is a plus. We are looking for educators who are serious about their work empowering students with essential life skills. Our summer programs can begin as early as May and end as late as late August and are typically 3-4 weeks long.

We have a strong knowledge of the culture of the countries where our programs are offered. If you would like a cultural presentation in a language that you teach for any of our programs, please contact us. We would love to come out and talk with your students en Español or en Français!

• Embrace learning outside of the classroom and consider educational travel as an excellent learning tool that can reinforce the classroom experience as well as develop students’    intellectual curiosity.

• Promote cultural awareness by creating programs, curricula, and campus events that educate students about world cultures and languages.

• Welcome classroom presentations to promote language and cultural immersion programs that will enhance students’ understanding of foreign languages.

• Encourage Magellan Study Abroad’s participation in campus International Fairs or Cultural Awareness Days in order, to stimulate and educate in a fun environment.

• Invite parents to contribute to their children’s cultural education by allowing evening parents' meetings on campus to discuss educational travel programs for their children.

• Be willing to develop groups of students interested in participating in Magellan Study Abroad’s programs.

• Magellan Study Abroad is proud to be the only company with group prices for summer immersion programs. Group discount rates depend on the Magellan program selected by your   school; appropriate discount will be determined based on size of the group and program chosen. Unique discounts are available to students from the same school traveling on the   same program. • Special payment plans not available to the general public.

• Streamlined enrollment process.

• Exciting classroom and exhibit material (ie. posters, flyers, promotional items for student and parent presentations).

• Opportunities for all expenses (travel, accommodation, excursions, and most meals) paid educational trip for qualified teachers to chaperon groups throughout their educational
   travel program.

Duties include -but are not limited to- chaperoning students on appropriate group flights overseas, assisting Program Director with various administrative duties connected with the program, working with homestay coordinators as necessary, being physically fit to travel and emotionally available for students as they navigate new terrain (and in many cases, for the first time without their families).
