ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Begin your language and cultural immersion experience with the enticement of Paris, your gateway city and the capital of France. Sleep well tonight because tomorrow begins our journey to Biarritz, through the collage of the French countryside via the TGV, the French high speed train. Your homestay family awaits you in this beautiful resort town on the Côte Basque. Open-air markets, perfect sandy beaches and small cafés characterize this quaint cosmopolitan French town.

Our school is strategically located in downtown Biarritz, and language classes are held in a small manor surrounded by a park: the perfect place to study and make new friends. Magellan Study Abroad is proud to offer classes in this exclusive destination as this renowned language school is available to no other study abroad company from the U.S. Students will have the unique opportunity to study exclusively with international students from Europe and other parts of the world. Activities centered on the arts and exciting excursions round out an unbelievable two weeks in this surf capital of France, but wait…there’s more!

Recall your first night in France, as you prepare for more adventures in one of the most visited cities in the world. For the next  week, you will return to Paris to savor all that it has to offer. Homestay will be replaced with a centrally located student residence. From this unique vantage point, traverse the city and witness first hand Europe’s most recognized monuments and the world’s most renowned museum. What excites you the most? Will it be cruising down the River Seine, climbing the magical Tour Eiffel, or viewing the Mona Lisa at the Musée du Louvre? Versailles, anyone? Participate in fun workshops and absorb the sights and sounds of this unforgettable City of Lights…one last time before departing home.

ABOUT THE DESTINATIONS

Biarritz (pop. 30,000) is one of the principal resorts on the Côte Basque. Originally a quiet village, it was given sudden prominence in the 19th Century by the wife of Napoleon III, Empress Eugénie, who constructed a palace on the beach – it still exists today as a luxury hotel. The town began hosting the parades and entourages accompanying European royalty and nobility, invited by Eugénie to stay at the palace. Today, Biarritz is a dynamic town with spectacular beaches, interesting architecture, quaint cafés and the home of one of Europe’s best surfing sites. Surfers come from all over the world to ride its waves.

Paris (pop. 12,067,000) is the capital of France and the country's largest city. It is situated on the River Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region. Paris is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with over 45 million visitors per year. There are numerous iconic landmarks among its many attractions, along with world-famous institutions and popular parks. Paris' museums and monuments are among its highest-esteemed attractions; tourism has motivated both the city and national government to create new ones. The city's most prized museum, the Louvre, welcomes over 8 million visitors a year, being by far the world's most visited art museum.
