ABOUT THE DESTINATIONS

Athens (pop. 3 million) today is a busy, modern metropolis whose history is among the most celebrated in the world. Athens is the capital of Greece, the birthplace of democracy and the home of great thinkers in ancient times whose philosophies continue to shape and influence modern thought. Remarkable advancements in science, math, technology, art, theater, literature, sculpture and architecture stemmed from this rocky country bordering the Mediterranean in centuries prior to the birth of Christ. Athens today is the site of several key ruins of ancient Greek society and marvelous museums containing vast treasures of antiquity. The weather is among the best of European cities with mild winters and hot summers.

Paros (pop. 10,000) lies in the center of the Cyclades in the shiny blue waters of the Aegean Sea. The postcard-looking island is rich in beautiful landscapes and fertile valleys, quaint churches and monasteries, pristine beaches, stunning white houses and ruins that whisper of a brilliant past. The hospitable population, comfortable accommodation and interesting cultural history make Paros a Greek island favorite. Visitors to the island have the choice of engaging with the vibrant local townspeople and their colorful life or seeking a remote location for a more quiet and secluded stay.
